I removed the 6 pressure plate bolts and depressed the clutch to retract the pressure plate from the flywheel. When I raise the engine the transmission raises with it, like it is still connected. I jcaked up the transmission a little higher and lowered the engine and it seemed to separate some, but I still can't get them apart. Am I missing something?

Your not missing anything. It is just very hard tp pry them apart. use a crow bar or something to seperate the two. It took me quite a while to do it completly!

dude 3rd gens uses a pull type clutch. there is a locking clip that has to be released. you can see this clip if you look tru one of the inspection window on the gearbox

but if he unbolted the pressure plate the clip doesn't matter. I don't know why people do that but.....

I used a 14" screwdriver and it took about 10 minutes. I was just afraid I would break something. The closer I get to the engine coming out, the more I realize I can fix or replace what breaks. Now it looks like the precat is goimg to give me problems. Thanks for your help.

It should take 2 seconds once you get the slave cylinder out

It's finally out. The precat was the hardest part. I finally had to remove when the engine was high enough to get to the nuts. Am I correct in believing that a downpipe will be easier to get out the next time I have to pull the engine?
