Ah i was under the impression that the axles would come out without removing them from the hub. Do you just pry them out of the hub?

I don't think so. Never had to do it on a FD but if its like other independent rear suspension cars...You need to remove the axle nut, maybe undo the upper control arm so the hub will pivot out of the way, pull the axle out of the hub, then it should pop out of the diff.

isn't there a C-clip that holds the axles in? i'm not sure about the FD, but i've seen many diffs like that.

just like a front whell drive car. get the shaft out of the hub which ever way looks easiet to you give the inside axel a pop
