So if you're wastegate line pops off and you hit 40psi you think you're going to be covered?

and a pillar mounted boost gauge would save me if that happened? Or a boost gauge at all?

My understanding of the way I programmed haltech...once the MAP Sensor sees 0.0Xpsi over what the fuel cut is set to, it cuts fuel. scares the **** out of me too. (wonder what would be safer at high rpm/boost situation, fuel or ignition cut?)

yes, I've tested it and now know my boost gauge is about a half of a pound off.

Worst case...it pops off WOT ~7.5k rpms...will my ECU cut fuel fast enough??? I don't know. But I don't think it would wait until I hit 40psi. With all the restriction in my air flow (SMIC and a MAIN CAT), I don't think my turbo would hit 40psi too quickly.

SCENE: I'm hauling ***, engine is screaming up to 9k and all of a sudden I hear and feel the wastegate SLAM SHUT!!! Let's say the ECU cuts fuel at 29.4psi. That would be almost a 15psi spike, assuming my fuel cut is at 16psi and I tuned for 14psi...that's pretty slow reaction from electrons. IF that did happen my map has fuel up 2 bars above atmosphere...of course it's not tuned up there, but the fuel does expotentially increase after 14psi. would my 1600cc injectors be maxed out...I hope so.

I have personally seen rotors that came out of a HBP motor with the same apex seals I used. One face on each rotor had DENTS in it from detonation, the seals were fine. (I'll see if I can get pics of those rotors...Rick Engman was pretty impressed/amazed. For someone who has been in rotary racing as long as he has, some of us 7 guys around ATL have shown him some things he's never seen, haha! Destruction wise that is)

I also don't see how a boost gauge would save me either???

I didn't type this so I could read it again so please elaborate on what I'm missing.

TIA

the boost guage will let YOU see when youre overboosting so YOU can get out of the throttle. its just an extra precaution. great car though, i figured the boost guage location was bc you wanted a sleeper, then i thought well why didnt he jsut replace the stock one with and after market. so, why didnt you do it that way?

You can order it from Digkey, if you are interested PM me and I'll give you the part numbers for the plug/receptacle, backshells, and pins/sockets.

later JDM models...I thought about that for a second, then thought oil pressure was pretty crucial on a motor I put together, haha!
