nice to see you back in the game thanks.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif well after almost 5 years @ 450ish HP, the engine is starting to go. It's getting coolant into the oil.. blah so next up is a new engine. Was going to install a tec 3 with painless wireing harness and a few other goodies, but my contract for my job is up for renewal around the end of the year. So need to save up some money and get my bills paid off before dumping to much more into this. |
looks good but you need new wheels to fill those wide rear fenders!
i want another fd.... |

SA-70s or SA-70TTs. love the TTs, but hate having to clean them.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.gif |
That's how you get it done! Great post man. I love the photos. I dig the color of coarse. The repair to the rear fender looks pretty awesome too.
I have to pick your brain on the brakelines. This was something I was planning on doing, you beat me to it. Could you tell me the details on the lines and where you got them? I was not sure where to get lines that would work from my calipers (which are metric) to the domestic wilwood balancer. Any info you can help me with would be very helpful. Anyway awesome car and a great thread! |
wow man that thing is ****** beatiful i love the color nice job

Anyway awesome car and a great thread! thanks! 99% of the work and credit needs to goto my friend that did the paint. without his.. insistance https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif I probably would never have done half the things he did to my car. I pretty much gave him free reign on the project. I know he got all the lines and fittings from summit.. next time I go out to the shop I'll get the specs on everything again.. he's told me at least twice that I know of, but I have a very bad memory for stuff like that. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif |
Well I can go to summitracing.com or jegs.com but if you could get him to tell you exactly what sizes the lines are that would save me the effort. If you can then thanks! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.gif

I know it wasnt cheap.. want to say around the $300 range. the bigest cost was the fittings.. and you need at least 2 or 3 types. I'll get them for you.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif |

Also would you mind snapping some photos of how you guys ran all the lines? I was planning on coming in straight from the calipers. Is that what you did?

Very Nice build! Love the color and great paint job!

In addition to the lines.. we did all new door/ hatch seals, window seals, window valance/wiper arms ,brake master/slave cylinders and rebuilt and powder coated brake calipers. |

"Everything came from summit racing. the adapters he needs depends on the car. Toyota, mazda are 10mm by 24(thread pitch) to an -3. the wilwood balancer will run the 1/8npt to an -3 adapters and then you need the 1n-3 hose ends as well as about 20 foot of earls -3 braided line. He can choose from steel, zinc plated or stainless. Hope this helps" Let me know if you need any more info.. also, I have more pics up here.. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nawa/My%20Car/ |

Another question. That heat shielding that you have on the lower portion of the firewall. Is that self adhesive? How has the held up? Would you recommend it?

Would you recommend it? yea, its self adhesive.. recommend it.. ah, hard to say right now. I wanted it done to help lower temps in the interior.. but seeing how its winter its hard to judge. But it has started peeling off the firewall a little bit. one thing we came up with to counter this is were going to use rivits and large thin washers to help hold it on. As of right now, I would say yes, but it definatly needs help staying on. |
ohh nice.
what widened fenders are those(front/rear? how do you like the rmagic kit? where did you get the dark blinker covers? also, hows van doing? |

It may not get quite as bad here in Maryland but we have our fair share of 90 degree+ with 90%+ humidity. My car gets balls/ass hot in the summer. I have no A/C either so I would be interested in something that could help. I don't know that I want to fool with riviting that **** into my engine bay though. |

Friend of mine owned it before me. I know he drove it a lot, and I drove it every day for about a year before getting a real daily driver. |
I've always been told that it is not smart to use -3 for the entire brake line system because it will actually bulge at high braking pressure. Did you consider this? I was going to do my brake lines in -3 but wimped out and ran steel lines at the last second. It would have been SO much easier to run the -3....

Im useing aearoquip teflon braded lines, good for up to 3,000 psi.. lets put it this way, My front brakes lock up with the smallest pressure on the pedal.. and that remindes me, I need to adjust my brake balancer. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif oh, and we only used the braded lines on the front of the car.. firewall back is still solid. now my buddy used all braded for his FC build(can check that out in the 2nd gen section.) |
Yea I got to think if that were true then everyones braided lineswould bulge at the caliper.
