Ok so I got the Apexi Boost Gauge but now how do I get the hose inside of the car? Yes I am pretty stupid when it comes to the mechanics of cars. I just don't see anyway to get the hose to the inside of the car without drilling. I saw some guides online but weren't detailed enough for me to understand where exactly they ran the line through. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for helping the uber n00b.

Look under your dash from inside the car. Follow the steering column down to the firewall. Around the steering column there will be a double walled rubber collar. Mine goes through there. It comes out just below the brake booster on the engine side, but you can reach underneath and pull it through.

We all started somewhere.

Ok I checked that out and see the rubber boot. So do I just make a whole big enough for the hose to fit though somewhere on the boot? Since the hose that Apexi gave me is huge and I think one guide said to use a coat hanger which is obviously way small. Just don't wanna do it then be like oh shiot my car!!!! Hehe.

Oh I also had another question. Should the boost gauge ever be below 0?

How big is the line for the guage? Mine is maybe 1/8 in. dia. and didn't require a very large hole. IIRC, the inner wall (passenger compartment side) is softer, but the outer wall is a bit tougher. Still, I think I used a small knife, pushed through and held the rubber to one side while I pushed the tube in. When I let go, it sealed up pretty well but I still used a bit of silcone caulk.

The guage should also show vacuum, so yeah it might give a reading below zero.

Alright everything is running right now. Some cord under the hood really close the drivers door was pulled out a lil and got stuck that's what was causing the over rev. So I took it out for a spin just to see what kind of boost I was pushing. It got up to 11-12PSI and then would go down to -15 or lower. Is this normal? The majority of the time it was below 0. *not sure how its suppose to work*

when your engine is not under load you should see vaccuum.... that is completely normal, acutally lower numbers indicate that you have a healthy engine, normal is about -16 and when you boost, you should see a 10-8-10 pattern... the 8lbs should be right when your tachometer passes over 4500rpm

Thanks to both Signal and FikseRxSeven for helping me through my troubles. Have never messed around with gauges til now. Honestly I'd rather install exhaust systems all day then do that again. Hehe. Now I'm just waiting for the pillar mount for my huge 60mm gauge. If anyone knows where to get a dual guage pillar pod for 60mm please tell.

Autometer makes a dual and a single A-piller guage pod. There are also center speaker replacement pods (2, 3, or 4 guage pieces) that quite a few people use.
