Boost Gauge/ Boost Control
#1
Ok guys this should be fairly easy question for you. The boost controller instructions show that i have to tap into the intake piping for my bosst readings. It cam with a nipplle that you drill a hole into you intercooler piping and then skrew it in. I was thinking that I don't have to do that. Can I just hook the vac hose to the nipple on the UIM and get the same readings? I would rather not drill holes into my pipes.

I also need to know how to get power to the controler. There is one red wire and one black wire. Obviously the black wire is the ground but where so i finfd the wire that is at 12 votls when the ignition is on??

There is several places you can tap into to get power for your boost controller. I had tapped into the power wire of my head unit behind the radio(ignition switched power). You can also tap into the cig. lighter or one of the wires coming off the joint box(fuse box). Its best to make sure its switched power since you dont really want it on while the key is out. Grounds are easy to find using a test light. Just make sure you scratch off any paint if you use the body.

Thanks now the pwoer issue is solved. Now where do I connect the 3 vac lines. One says to tap into the charge pipe, another the intake manifold ( UIM ), and the acctuator.
Now If i tap into the UIM and the charge pipes wouldn't that be the same?

Not really, since the uim can be under vacuum while the intake piping could be pressurized by the turbos. The assume you are hooking up a profec b, which is what I have in my car. For the one that goes to the uim, I used the spare nipple on the uim and a T adaptor which split to my boost gauge, and to the profec b. As for the actuator, you take out the line that usually has the pill in it. You connect the charge pipe to the IN part of the profec b, and OUT goes to the actuator. You also must plug the other side of the actuator that goes to a solenoid. Maybe someone can post a pic of this. Hope that helps.

If your boost controller has a digital boost gauge, it will be for that. I had too do something similar for my Blitz. The Profec A calls for this also.
The documentation should tell you whether or not to replace the restrictor pill. My instructions directed me to take it out. It runs as smooth as a babys *** without it.
