Gents,

This topic probably is a subtopic of the proper turbo mapping started earlier. I keep getting boost delays when I'm running the car. (Stock turbos - Just put a new motor in back in May)

I don't have a boost gauge to tell what is happening, but I should get boost at 3000rpm up to 5, where the transitions occurs. The boost is sporadic and I know it's not configured like it was before the new motor.

Does anyone know what's happening?

Yea you need a boost guage.

Did you put back on the stock vacum hoses?

Sounds like you might be leaking but unless you have a boost guage you wont know for sure.

btw

The flapper door opens at 4500 rpm for transition.

it could be a failing check valve, or maybe a misrouted hose?

Well I agree it could be lots of things, Could be the precontrol door sticking or maybe a bad solinoid but until you get a boost guage youre just guessing.

Thats where you need to start.

Your right, I do need a boost gauge....

My mechanic changed these sensors that apparently went bad. It seemed to have decreased the problem. Yet, I still feel my mapping isn't set right. What controls the turbo boost/mapping etc??

The ecu.. controls mapping and boost.

If you dont hae an after market adjustable ecu such as an Apexi power FC or a PFS PMS then you cant change your maps.

Check the for sale sections here and at www.rx7club.com You can usually find a good deal on a PMS for around $500.

Alot of guys like the newer PFC, but I run the PMS and I like it. It is easy to use and gets the job done.

Maybe a sticky actuator?

Check the actuator on the precontrol and on the wastegate just to make sure the rods are moving.
