Hi all Is it possible to but a bolts kit from mazda ?? I mean all the nut's and bolts for the suspension and the ones needed to bolt the subframes to the body ???

 

you'd probably have to go in and order each one seperately but i don't see why you couldn't get them. Is this for your FC or for an FD? If it's for an FC, i'd just got to a junk yard and get them. Much cheaper.

 

Its for an FD I bought it as a project car and it came with all the suspension inside it and I lined up all the parts last night only to find I didn't have any of the bolts I was hoping mazda would sell a complete bolts kit How do I identify each bolt in order to order them ???

 

if you can figure out the thread pitch and bolt size (both will be metric) then i don't see why you couldn't get it from any hardware store. make sure it's grade 8 though as that's the higher tensil strength best of luck

 

If you order from Mazda you won't have to know sizes, just where they go on the car. However, I think these will run anywhere from $1 to several dollars per bolt.



If you want to buy them from general sources I would try Lowe's, Home Depot or a nut and bolt house. To go this route you need to know bolt size, thread pitch, and length.



Bolt size is just diameter of the shank in millimeters. You can just hold a bolt shank perpendicular to a ruler to get this. Since you a dealing with holes, hold a ruler up to the hole and measure diameter including threads. Since you only have to be within a millimeter, this is not difficult with decent eyes and good lighting.



For length, you can just put a straight piece of wire into the hole to the bottom of the hole or at least the bottom of the threads and measure it. Then add allowances as needed for washers and the size of whatever piece is being clamped with the bolt.



For thread pitch, you could just buy the most common pitch available at the hardware store for the size (bolt diameter) to try and see if they work. They probably will. I haven't encountered any odd size/thread pitch combinations on Rx-7s. Or, metric thread pitch gauges are available from industrial supply places such as W.W. Grainger. I think mine was about $25 and has measuring elements in it for about 30 or 40 different pitches. Some, maybe all, of these types of sets are made to fit down into holes to get the thread pitch when a bolt is not available.



As for grade, grade 8 was mentioned. This would certainly ensure that all fasteners would be strong enough but could make it harder to find everything you need in metric sizes. If so, you should be able to go down to the next highest grade and be ok.

 

most hardware stores have a pretty limited supply of metric nuts/bolts. I went thru hell trying to find a swaybar bolt for my vette...
