I'm looking at FD's to buy all over the place the really nice one's I'm finding are automatic transmissions. How hard is it to swap from auto to man.?
P.S.- yes I've researched it on the forum and I didn't find anything on it. (although I'm not good with computers... lol.) Thanks a bunch! |
just save yourself the headache and buy a manual car if thats what you want.
to do the swap i believe you will need the following: the tranny clutch/flywheel pedals clutch master and all associated hard lines. clutch slave interior trim and the rubber boots, shifter, knob, probably the driveshaft not cheap. and you would want to make sure you dont get a 93 tranny with a going bad 5th syncro which theyre notorious for....... |
that brings back memories i was gonna do the same , bout i sold the fd
good luck |

EVerything is fine, runs great even with a used tranny. I spent about 3300 dollars for parts and labor, it's worth every penny, let me know if you have any questions. |
Rotary Villain thanks for the info 'bout the '93 Tranny's I didn't know that. I think I'll be researching the FD section for a while to make sure I know what I'm doing once I get the FD. As for the swap, I was just wanting to make sure that you didn't have to have any sensor's or little quarks before doing the swap.
Thanks again!! |
Why switch to a Manual when an Auto is way less of a headach. And with the hold button will act just like a manual It will push the engine way past the red line if on the hold option
