Is anyone familiar with the auto transmissions, more specifically the torque converter? What would a faulty torque converter feel like when driving? I have a 1994 montego blue base automatic. It is boosting excellent at 12-10-12, my only issue is with the transmission.

I see, where are you located. Actually I'm not positive it's the torque converter but it seems to have to do with the transmission. My engine was rebuilt by kd rotary about 14,000 mi ago and they did a really good job. The trans is the original and I have 106,000 on chassis. I am located right near DC, in Northern Virginia.

depends on the tranny, what kind of torque converter is in auto fd's there are multiple parts in a tranny that could cause alot of problems. why dont you describe whats going on and maybe you could get some help rather than asking a question about a part youre not even sure of.

Well the problem is definitely worse in hot weather. Especially If I've been sitting in traffic and there is a lot of stop and go driving. It is also worse under light throttle. When I am under light throttle in stop and go traffic I feel the car jerking back and forth slightly either when I apply the brake or start from a stop. However it does'nt happen everytime and sometimes it isn't that bad. Keep in mind mine is an auto so I feel the drive should be somewhat smoother .
