On a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the more difficult. I would say its a 2. You just take off the old one and swap in the new one.

Oh and anytime you lose any coolant even if it seems so minimal that it couldn't possibly do any damage, put some new coolant in. I lost about a pint of coolant changing mine, and I like an idiot I started the engine without adding any coolant and the red light of death came on, and the coolant buzzer started screaming. I added a little bit, and it was fine.

Just to spice this thread up a bit, IT'S HORRIBLY HARD TO SWAP IN A NEW AST, PREPARE FOR PAIN.

yea my buddy lost his left leg swapping an AST. i suggest u be very careful.

do what martin said one hose at a time. id suggest pinching the bottom line off a little below the end to prevent gushing coolant but the stuff already in the tank is gonna leak out
