it's called a stack of washers.. find washers that fit in the mount openings.. and then weld.. WALA! solid diff mounts.. I have a set of chris special mounts myself..

Yes Van is very good at anything that resembles pinball..
hmm why not just use a socket that happens to be the same size? hey for extra strength use an air socket if it's too long trim it down, if too short find a deep socket.

kevin.

this ghetto tip brought to you by a bored person with a vivid imagination. vivid as in the **** company.

how did you make solid diff mounts ?
Quite Easy.

Went to a hardware shop and bought 4 cleavis washers(square washers 2" x 2" with a 1 1/4" hole in the center) and welded them to where the stock diff bushings are at. The stock ones are rubber with a metal pipe in the center. You weld the cleavis washer to both the metal pipe and the diff mount.

Yahoo auctions Japan sells the more expensive ones for appx $150.00 for a pair. If anybody's interested, I'm sure I can convince my lovely wife to buy them.
Well, spent about an 2 hrs pulling the diff out on friday night, then Dragon took over and made the solid diff mounts, put the 4.777 final gear in with the Cusco one way, then another 2 hrs to put it all back together.

Car feels real solid with the Diff/solid diff mounts. I got rid of a lot of wheel hop with the mounts I think.

The 4.777 final gear makes the car feel like it has Torque. Push the gas down and I'm moving.

Also got the techedge WideBand in...that was SO WORTH the money.

All in all, car's getting more fun to drive. Especially with the added "power"
What are your comments on the techedge wideband?
We've got appx. 5 people using them right now...all tuning from 11.2 to 11.5 a/f. for the past 5 + months. Not a single blown engine caused by a lean condition.

I bought the DIY 1.5 kit and it works well for what I'm doing. I have the bung welded appx. 5 inches from the opposite end of the downpipe, so the sensor will last a little longer. It still reads accurately, but it reads at appx 200 rpms slower i.e. a/f for 1000 rpms is actually 800 rpms.

Good kit IMO. The sensor and the DIY cost me a grand total of $320.00 with shipping from Aussy to Japan.

OKay so about this 4.777 Gear. Are you still able to drive the car on long trips? Will it mess up the tranny if you drive at high speeds for a long time??

Think about this Joe. The final gear lowers the gearing to the axels, making them turn more revolutions, thus putting more stress on the axels vs. the tranny. Axels are cheaper than tranny's. And the stock axels can take quite a bit of beating. I know Dragon has had 500+ rwhp for over a year now and he hasn't broke the axels.

I have to use 5th gear more, and I'm not expecting to hit 160+ mph, but I sure as hell get there fast as ****

Yeah I knew that....But their was this 69 camaro that was modded beyond belief. I wanted to race the car at the track in my town but I was told he couldn't make the drive because of his gears. That he would mess them up driving at a sustained high speed for a long time. Does this make sense? About how fast can you go now?

(I bet the thing is fast as hell though )
