i know that there are 13 lb and 15-16 lb stock fd rims. how do i tell the difference? besides weighing them of course?

They all weight the same And even if they werent aren't scales the most common way to distinguish weight....

yes they are all the same weight, however the earlier ones are prone to cracking

actually the VERY early wheels were a 1lb or 2lb lighter... on the back of the wheel the casting is very hollow.. thats how you tell.. They are however prone to cracking.
