While reattaching one of the intercooler hoses (the one that comes directly off the turbo) I bumped a sensor, breaking it off its mounting (see pic for location, may need to pan around.) SInce that time, and of course I may be jumping to conclusions based on these circumstances, the secondary turbo sometimes doesn't kick in. Notice I zip-tied it back into position, with the same hit or miss results.

Anybody out there have some insights on this? Thanks, David

PS: In previewing this post, the picture did not seem to attach. In case not, the sensor is located on top of the air pump, above and in front of the turbo outlet.

i wouldn't go so far as to say its the turbo. its possible its a vacuum hose or a solenoid that is broken....

10-4, Vosko! I mentioned in another post the difference in price between an OEM O2 sensor and the one I got instead at Autozone: $225 vs. $25 (cured a rough idle.) The dealers are not to be trusted. I'm in Va. and the closest specialty shop is Peter Farrell, but I'm still working on it. Also, when the second turbo works, everything is just as it always has been, so I too suspect a solenoid, or worse, a vacuum line...hope it's not in the rat's nest...

if that sensor is above the airpump close to the alternator, and there are 2 of them then you are referring to th eturbo control solinoids. You mave have cracked it when you bumped it!

if its inconsistantly switching over, it could also be a check valve. there is one in that area
