Better yet... Put together kits!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
Looks awesome man! |
I'd do a kit but the way I arranged the cooler was specifically for the FEED front end. Wouldn't work with a stock front or even a CWest front. Plus it's fun to do it yourself!
Ok, ok, props out to John and Harrison for holding my nuts, er, bolts for me while I screwed the nuts on https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif |
What results did you see from running this oil cooler? How much of a oil temp drop did you see? Or didnt you measure it!

Dan,
Well the engine is still out of the car. I'm of course expecting a drop although coolant temps were always good to begin with. With the extra oil cooler, I should see more consistent coolant temps and of course it'll lower the oil temps quite considerably. For street duty, it should keep the oil right at thermostat temp. Track day duty should be good as well since the single 25 row is actually better than TWO stock oil coolers. Add another 25 row and it should handle anything you throw at it (race duty). Here are a few pics of some of the fittings I was referring to. Unfortunately I made it over to the shop late and it was already up on a lift with a car underneath. I'll be back there tomorrow to get a few better angles. Here's the front cover with the 18mmx1.5 to 10AN adapter connected to the XRP tight radius 90 degree 10AN female to 10AN male. |
Here's the stock oil cooler with the 22mmx1.5 to 10AN adapter and a 10AN straight female/female w/ braided hose. The fitting on the left is the stock fitting. I'll leave the stock fitting and oil hose on that side. That hose runs from the fitting, up the side of the engine block and into the oil filter pedestal at the back of the engine.

Here's the thermostat from underneath the car looking up. I'll draw a diagram to show you how the lines are all run.

Ok here's a quick diagram. didn't want to pull out the Wacom tablet so I just did a quickie with the mouse but it gives you an idea. Oil lines are in purple because I use Royal Purple oil! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

So going by Jspec's data, I should see a drop below that as I have the stock oil cooler in there as well. Ultimately, the temp is limited by the thermostat however but I'm assuming it would be ideal to keep the oil at thermostat temp.
