I was just curious, if my engine was "blown" would the car still run? I have noticed that my coolant level keeps dropping but I am not seeing any puddles where the car is parked. I also notice that the car does not have as much power as I think it should have.

Also, what is meant by "porting" an engine? (I know, stupid question.)

Thanks!

one of the big plusses of a rotary is that it can be blown and still run. you need to have the cooling system pressure checked, it is possible that your water seals are bad (its like a head gasket), and its letting the engine burn the coolant.

porting the engine is enlarging the passages in the block to flow more air, its kind of like putting a bigger cam in a piston engine

I think I found the problem. There is a leak in the lower radiator hose near the clamp on the block. I have it on ramps now. Hopefully that is the only problem.

Still on the ramps. I have the front skid plate (or whatever that thing is called) off of the car and I had to wait for the coolant to cool down so I did not end up looking like The Man Without A Face. I am going to drain it tonight and pull the lower radiator hose to see if the hose is cracked or split or if it is the part the hose connects to on the engine. I will let you know tomorrow.

This will be my cherry popping experience! (The first work I have doen to the car myself)

Thanks!

Ok, pulled off the lower radiator hose and found no cracks or splits. Maybe just a loose clamp. I dont know. I put it back together and it does not seem to be leaking but now it is running like ****. The idle varies between 200 and 1000 RMP. (I am pretty sure that is not normal.) I dont think my fist turbo is spooling either. Guess I have to take it in to the doc.

Yeah, the boost problem was before I worked on it. Luckily I have a rotary specialist about 5 miles from my house. I am going to take it to him and let him work his magic.
