i am getting zero compression on both rotors..is that common when a motor's blown? i wonder if i'm doing something wrong..this car was running great a week ago...bone stock. i know i can't start the car because of the lack of compression and that it's probably flooded again.

i have blown 5 out of 6 seals before adn was able to drive home from the track. but absolutly 0 compression? nothing at ALL? sure your guage works?

unflood it and add some ATF to help build the compression. call the fire dept ahead of time to let them know that your house is ok... its just your damn car thats smoking. LOL

tester in the top plug hole and spark plug in the bottom hole.

i think i know what's going on...when i'm trying to start the car, it sounds like the starter motor is activating but nothing in the engine is moving at all...when you turn the key you just hear a free whizzing. i read in a manual that if the starter motor spins but the engine is not cranking "the overrunning clutch in the starter motor is slipping and the starter motor must be replaced." or starter motor pinion jammed in flywheel ring gear; or starter pinion or flywheel teeth worn or broken; or engine seized-eccentric shaft won't turn (<--???!!).

it definitely feels and sounds like the motor is not rotating when the starter is activated. if the shaft is not turning, i guess that would explain the lack of compression readings especially a non-moving needle. can someone tell me if that makes sense or if they've had a similar experience?

thanks guys ,

Fritz, see if you can get a socket on the front of the engine and turn it over by hand, if it spins freely try the starter again, you may have stopped the engine in a bad sposition and you are now just hitting the outside of the fly wheel. If the starter is spinning, but not engaging the engine you have a problem in your starter solenoid. The Solenoid incorporates an electromagnetic field to draw back a cylinder which operates on a fulcrum to pull the starter bendix out into the flywheel then current flows through a disc from one side of the solenoid to the other and flows down through the starter body and creates the electromagnetic field to create the circular motion of the starter. If you can hear the starter clunk and spin then yes what you described above is hapeneing, the starter bendix one way clutch has gone out, and cannot turn the engine but will spin the starter. The One way clutch is designed so that you do not overspin the starter when the engine runs and spins faster than the starter is turning. It is a safety system in the starter. I have seen some pretty neat things when starters stay engaged, I have litterally had to beat what was left of the case of a starter out of a dump truck with a 16 lbs sledgehammer.

you should also use the leading hole not the trailing.
