ok, I'm more of a 2nd gen guy myself, but I just happened to see this

I got one of those valves you screw in, and attach a hose (with valve actuator) to drain the oil. That way, I never have to get a new crush washer, and it's easier to change the oil. Has anyone experienced problems with these? I haven't had leaks.

I incorperated a valve like the one used on a garden hose. I got sick of crawling under there, loosening up the drain plug, having oil run down my arm. Geeze. Only problem was my girlfriend was like wtf where's the garden hose valve. I told her I needed it for bigger and better things. Hehehe.

I just hate getting under there, draining it, then realizing I forgot the damn washer

tfhuth 02-12-2003 11:48 AM

Yep,

It's a pain getting under there anyway because they're so low. I think I'm gonna put a lift kit on mine so I can change the oil in like seconds https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

ok so i went to Mazda over my lunch and figured I'd pick up a couple of those crush washers.... Damn was I ever surprised to find out they cost me 5 bucks a piece. Oh well whatever. Just thought I'd share with everyone how much they were and not to expect to pay like 75 cents to $1 like with some other cars https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I don't have a pic, but it protrudes maybe about 1/2" to 3/4"

I got a package of 4 crush washers for about $1 at Checker. I doubt the Mazda part is much superior to the chep one.
