Red face

:bigok: Hey guys, new to the board, and glad to be a member, I am currently residing in Kentucky and looking for a FD3S model, but the only ones I can find for sale in my area are autos....until I really started looking, I didnt even know the Rx-7 CAME in auto, so my question is, are the automatics good in these cars, do they shift crisp, are the able to be manually shifted with any accuracy, and can they withstand the HP these cars are capable of......any help would be appreciated, thanks

If your going to buy such a bad *** car your gonna want it to be 5 speed. If you buy the automatic then i bet you will regret it. This is a car you want to be patient with and find the one you want and the options you want. I also recomend that you get the R1 edition because it has the aditional oil cooler, adjusable shocks and some nice suspension additions. I found my car after looking for 3 months, and now i have a beautiful almost stock 1993 red r1, with 5 speed tranny, racing clutch, and exhuast. I got it all for $11800.

That's a pretty good price Danno.. wish I'd have run into those options for that price. I got my auto for 10k... It's not really that bad but people tend to frown on it... I'm going to change it soon.

Autos also limit control in turns...you never know when it's gonna change gears and throw you in a circle. With all the power it is bound to happen. Then again I haven't done it since the first day I got the car.

Definitely wait and get the 5-speed. If you do end up getting an auto-

your first mod will be to change it to a 5-speed (giant pain in the ***).

Na autos arent that bad........I bought one cuz at first every one told me not to buy one the autos are junk and never will hold hp.....Then to come to find out the internals in the tranny are all the samr from toyota nissan subaru and a couple other cars......So the tranny will be just fine.......As driving the car in corners i found it kinda fun to autox, they go thru the gears real easy when trying to up and down shift.....I dont know how many times when i set up my mx6 for autox that i would be beat by auto berretas and trucks, plus saabs cuz they were all in my class.....It would **** me off bad cuz i once had the mentality that only true sports cars are manual..........Then i got to the point now were i cant drive a manual so i had to go back to auto car and learnd alot about them for making one handle.........Course i was always an auto guy when it came to drag racing.......Now look at what i get from my car....It will come outta the hole easy on parts then be right into full boost, i wont loose boost inbetween shifts now so it means im always making power......But then again its cost me 15g to build my car this way so i say be like every one else and do it the easy way.......Theres nothing wrong with following the hurd...bbbbaaaaa bbbbbaaaaaaa................
