what would it take to get the 13b re into the fd..is there a kit to place it in the fd with the motormounts being different. I priced the 2 engines up and there is a big difference in $$$$$$

The 13B-RE is better in an FC. Reason being the motors will bolt up exactly. Making a 13B-RE fit into an FD is like trying to put a 13B-REW into an FC....not a fun task.

jspecracer7, do you have anything to show how effective this swap is? Dyno sheets or the like?

I'll get it tuned by Japan's finest tuner(IGYpoo) and then I'll get it dyno'd for reference.

So my 93 R1 is being repainted. I took the oppurtunity to take the engine down for some preventative maintenance. Took out the stock twins and saw 4 cracks on the wastegate opening. So I started making some phone calls to replace them I was initially thinking about the used 99 Efinis, but their cost is too high. One of my friends has a 95 Cosmo 13B RE. He claims that because of its make up, the 13b RE twins are much more reliable that the FD's. He is offering to sell me the twins and the LEM for $1000. I am thinking that it should be an easy bolt on, but is there something that I am missing. Why doesn't everyone do this mod? Will there be HP gains?

My mods are Pettit Downpipe/midpipe/ECU, Denso fuel pump, Greddy Intercooler, Koyo Radiator.

I heard the 13B Cosmo Twins are smaller than the FD stocks.

They are smaller, but I read somewhere that the Cosmo puts out almost 280 HP. That's more than the stock FD set up

Cosmo 20B puts out 280 hp...not the 13B-RE

Jspecracer7 is correct. Also, the 13B RE has a smaller exhaust sleave than the FD and I doubt it was designed to make 280hp.
