First of all, I would like to say thanx, you all are very welcoming and helpful on this forum. Second of all I was told to post my location as to be directed to local sources, I live in Bentonville, Arkansas. My car is a 1991 GXL? (this is what Im assuming because it says no where as to what it is. But it has 5 lug wheels, larger 4 piston front brakes.....etc.) I had posted that I was going to be rebuilding my NA engine because it had been overheated, but I bumped into a fairly nice deal. I have a JDM TII engine, transmission, wiring harness, and computer with less than 30,000 miles on it for about 1500 bucks shipped. So it is here and I have decided for the time being, just to get the motor in the car that Im using the NA drivetrain and the flywheel assembly is already swapped. However I have read that the JDM harness doesnt have the windshield wiper plug in it and it is too short to reach to the passenger side of the car (as obvious a jdm car is right hand drive and mine is USDM). But I also have the NA wiring harness and it is actually in better condition than the TII one, both my car and motor are 91. I am getting an aftermarket boost gauge instead of changing gauge clusters. Now what should I do, I have read that the wiring harnesses should be interchangeable? Or how could I go about making the JDM wiring harness work? Any information would be greatly appreciated as I would love to get my poor Seven out of the garage. I am making daily homage to the Gods of Rotaryness!

(Rotary Gods)

the harness will work just fine from the jdmmotor,,,,,, just need to streach it ie cut some of the tape in areas and re fit it to the usdm chassis. yes there is no wiper harness on the jdm harness but you can get that from the old harness or the jdm main harness if you got the frount clip.

why though are you using the na drive line. its too week and if using a t2 trans your goin to need to make a drive shaft anyways.

Def swap that tranny/driveline out... The T2 stuff is much beefier! I used a USDM S5 T2 harness on my JDM engine, so other than the length and wiper issues, you should be fine. I found though that the JDM and the S5 harnesses had a lot of shorts in them and were very brittle...so be prepared for a little wiring gremlin here or there.

yeah the jdm harness goes to the other side of the car, you'd be better off modding the usa na harness ot buying a new t2 harness.

TII trans to a N/A diff http://www.mazdatrix.com/

I would run the N/A trans to see how it holds up. If it dies it died. Hes already got the TII box waiting.

Well I am using the NA drivetrain, simply because I am in a pickle as far as getting the back end of the drive train. If I toast the NA tranny then so be it, I have the TII one, and I can get the rear if I want. I definitely know the TII drivetrain is a lot more hoss, I mean look at the ribs on the tranny *whew!* But how exactly would I go about getting the wiper portion of the harness onto the JDM harness. Or what would I have to mod to make my NA harness work? Tanx again

If you wanna go that route, separate the wiper harness from the engine wiring. Its not that big a deal when the harness is out. They are both terminated independently, its just wrapped together.
