...just incase I end up not liking the TII skirts on the car...

id leave em the way it is rob... never dug the t2 skirts on a vert...

Rob x-7 02-27-2009 03:25 PM

I bet the hood held up much better then the fenders right jio?

you got quite the list- get cracking!

I figure it will look like a factory TII vert?

I have this skirts for years, and then this picture popped up and it made me make up my mind

http://carview-img02.bmcdn.jp/carlif.../176388/p1.jpg

amp 02-27-2009 05:04 PM

holdin up pretty well..

tell me about it.. thats just the rides... list is longer for the home...

only reason why im diggin the nonskirt look is imho makes the wheel.tire look more aggressive and meaty...

specially lowered... the skirt has a tendency of straightening or flushing the side of the fc... no skirt gives it a bottom curve..

Rob x-7 02-27-2009 06:00 PM

I just feel that it has been the same for so long that I have to change it

Are those expensive? How much space do you need to install one? Can it be raised high enough to park a car underneath (assuming you have high ceiling)?

Rob x-7 03-09-2009 05:51 PM

never enough over kill!

never mind a lift, I just wish I had a nice space I could park the cars and work on them, I have to sneak them into my own shop, then get them out when its time for work, otherwise they live in a tent.

Hopefully get the cosmetics on the car done in the next month or so, I think im going to try to squeeze the E85 fuel upgrade in sooner then later, this way I can get the car tuned once for both fuels.

ive got a two car with roughly nineteen to twenty feet ceiling height... however you dont need that much..

yeah the lift gets to full extension and park the speed6 underneath...

that vert is looking sweet rob...

Rob x-7 03-09-2009 06:42 PM

that tent picture is a "before" picture, lol

thats when i was putting it away for the winter, I took it out once last time after that then took the whole car apart

jwteknix 03-12-2009 09:25 AM

both of u guys are doing a awsome job keep up the good work

oh i was surprised too when i first saw he had a lift in the garage totaly bad ass...amp tries to pretend hes old lol

i fixed my antenna wire so now i have a radio in the car and dont have to listen to cd anymore

fc3s4utnv 03-12-2009 07:05 PM

I think my winter project has just turned into a 302 and an aod install, tired of messing with my motor.....

Rob x-7 03-20-2009 06:16 PM

I got to sneak some parts in between jobs at the shop, tomoroww I plan on bringing the car in, taking the doors and trunk off and prepping and spraying the jambs, when I painted the car originally I left the jambs original, now I want to shoot them over.

Going to also strip the chip guard from the doors as well for when the side skirts go on.

I will mask the bottom of the hood and spray the top hopefully this weekend as well- then at least I can get the car inside after work and just put it together instead of having to paint anything else on the car itself.

I sprayed the bumpers hanging upside down so no airborne dirt landed on the more visable parts, everything will get sanded and polished anyhow, just trying to cut down on the dust because my shop is very dusty.

defprun 03-21-2009 05:40 PM

Nice Rob!! That's gonna look soo damn good....

Did some **** to the jetta cause i was bored yesterday...

[attachment=45526:IMG_0291.JPG]

I'm getting a set of Eibachs so I thought I'd try cutting the stockers for shits and giggles...too damn bouncy. Next weekend the new springs will go on so it'll get raised in the front half an inch to 1 inch from where it is now and im gonna get rid of the tow hitch on the rear...I got a VR6 front lip with the car, so the front bumpers coming off getting a fresh coat of flat black when that goes on. And I keep forgetting my memory card in my computer so I keep failing to take pics of the RX7...

amp 03-21-2009 05:57 PM

not diggin the front cutouts on the front bumper...

Rob x-7 03-21-2009 06:47 PM

you will dig them when its on the car, I still have more in store for it.

I figure for every person who digs it there will be one who does not, lol

now this is what I call weight reduction!

I mean really- whats the matter with us that we take apart perfectly working and operating cars and do this to them?

On a Saturday night no less!

Rob x-7 03-21-2009 09:03 PM

got the jambs done and the top of the hood, got to flip the doors and get rid of the chip guard, then I can put the car back together.

Test fit a coupe light, have to trim some metal but they will work, once I have them fitted I will smoke/clear them. Can you tell by the dust on them that I have had them sitting in my storage at the shop for like 4 years?

One detail one person doesn't like doesn't mean they wont like how the car looks IRL either. A project in progress can only come to fruition from one's intentions, not that of others.

In other words it's like expecting it to be a boy without ever seeing the sonargram...and than ending up with a girl. I prefer to paint all my expectations yellow that way I dont regret making any rash decisions pro or con.

Rob x-7 03-21-2009 11:07 PM

what helps the slots is the thickess of them, makes them look better then just a cut bumper.

I modded and primed the bumper, then on the club in a totally seperate thread someone posted a picture of a

car with the bumper almost identical so seeing the picture made me excited that it will look good when the car goes back together.

defprun 03-21-2009 11:13 PM

Worst case scenario you can have a stock bumper to put on just in case the new one scares the children away?

RONIN FC 03-22-2009 10:00 AM

Ive seen the molding cut out before. I kinda like it.

Heres my work in progress. Theres a long, dusty road ahead of me...

Rob x-7 03-22-2009 10:42 AM

have you bolted that front bumper on fully yet? when I fit Kevin's bumper I made the mistake of just hand tightening or holding it in place so when I bolted it on the for the last time and went to tighten everything I found one spot that no longer wanted to participate, glass dont stretch, lol

No, not yet. Ive found the the bumper AND fenders aren't participating... Their made of this "Flexible Resin Plastic" (fiberglass with plastic resin) and while they are flexible, they seem to have taken the shape of the box they were shipped in... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.gif I have it bolted in loosely with some heat pointed at it to try and manipulate it back to she shape of the car. It seems to be working.

What spot in particular wasn't working for you?

Rob x-7 03-22-2009 01:18 PM

the whole thing did not fit anywhere, but in the end it was one of the corners by the fenders that did not want to participate with the rest

of the operation, a tiny crack was the end result.

this was one from Chuck, not the new batch of people copying them. Did you notice the guy selling the entire original kit in its boxes for $3500?

Thats not a bad price if they are originals.

Rob x-7 03-22-2009 03:22 PM

cf canards and wing, air duct- all original not replicas

Rob x-7 03-22-2009 06:09 PM

stock bumper is not as wild as this one, but the slots dont look that bad once its on the vehicle

Rob,

Are you going to put a black mesh behind the cutouts of the bumper?

I like that boat you have there with dual merc 300s.

I've always wanted a Lund Bass boat with a single Merc 300.

Rob x-7 03-22-2009 09:35 PM

im putting either stainless or black, I have stainless right now so if I dont like it I might blast it and paint it black or just buy

black epoxy coated stainless instead

Cheers! 03-22-2009 09:36 PM

Any chance you can share where your purchased the screen from? And also how it will be installed on the bumper for us mere mortals with zero experience on body work?

Rob x-7 03-22-2009 09:51 PM

I have bought from these guys a few times

http://www.twpinc.com/

I set them in place with structural urethane, the stuff bodyshops use to glue urethane bumpers back together.

Not really feasable for a person to set themselves up with the specific item I use which is Norton because you also need the

dispensing gun, so if your planning on using that take it to a bodyshop after you have it all trimmed and ready to go and let them glue it

in for you.

Maybe they sell other urethane that does not require a special dispensing gun but I would not know about it at this time.

j9fd3s 03-22-2009 11:03 PM

there is a yellow s5 FEED built with cutouts like that in the bumper, its a little race car, but i like it. and actually on a black car it might not really be visible?

http://www.fujitaengineeringusa.com/fc3s/1a.jpg

i have some magazine articles about that one

Rob x-7 03-23-2009 09:41 AM

its just a bumper, if I dont like it I can always put another one on, but I think it will look great, it looks good on the red car and the yellow car, im sure it will look even better on a black car
