Just wondering if a S5 Motor would actually run with an S4 ECU....if it did it would probably run bad right???
|
it will run. i have never actually tried but i think it would be fine. you would have to put the S5 engine block and S4 front cover and all S4 manifolds and electronics
|
thanks vosko...I was asking because I found an 87 TII for sale in my area with an 89 S5 jspec that the guy just put in it...he said he had it running but it wasnt running well...and I figured it was because he didnt swap out the ecu or anything...I want to drop the motor in my 88 vert..and I was just seeing if i should start looking for a stand alone ecu system...what would you recommend??? thanks....

another ?????, is an S5 TII tranny better than an S4?
|
go haltech!!!!!!!! just ask turborotor https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
TII trannies are all the same. i guess a S5 is better because its newer lol if you are gonna put a TII engine in your vert it is better to go with a haltech because you have to rewire it anyway and you get a brand new wiring harness to work with :bigthumg: |
thanks again...I will prolly end up buying the car that I found and use it as a good parts car for the whole swap...
Haltech it is then!!!!!!! Know anywhere where i can get a good deal??? Also, I want to put an FD intake manifold on S5 block...would I have to use the upper and lower FD manifold, or could I just use the upper?? |
you can use just the upper. 13BAce used to have that. try asking speed_nyc he probably knows where to get a E6K cheap. why don't you just have 2 cars. fix the TII and keep the vert :smirk:
|
the t2 trannies are almost the same. yah if you do the swap its less work to use the haltech

The S5's have a different shifting mechanism I think < I was told that anyway >
|
Is there a benefit to using the FD UIM.. Besides looks?
