why the hell do i need to run a usdm harness/ecu when doing a jdm turbo2 swap?

nismo convert 01-28-2006 09:59 PM

Because the steering columns are on opposite sides, meaning the harness from the ecu connects to the other side. And the fuse block is on the drives side.

spiney360 01-28-2006 10:04 PM

thats what i thought like everyone i talk to is like it will never work!.. god people are lazy what about the ecu? its the same right?

nismo convert 01-28-2006 10:28 PM

Yeah the Ecu's are the same.

SpinningFit 01-29-2006 03:21 PM

just stretch it over, thats what I did for now. Just be careful not to break n e thing. Now if I could just find a damn boost sensor

spiney360 01-29-2006 03:53 PM

haha thats all i need too.. to bad the na one wont work

nismo convert 01-29-2006 06:21 PM

The n/a one works... I've had one in my car for over a year.

Just running no knockbox, and knock sensor.

spiney360 01-30-2006 01:51 AM

well i have hksfcon.. i don't think i will need one or will i?

f-con what?

if it's the old school "black box" version.

then yes, you NEED a factory ECU.

that one was made to be a piggyback controller. as every f-con since then has been (except for the ProV)

One320B 01-30-2006 09:30 AM

What sensor do you guys need? I've got an extra T2 sensor I originally used w/ my conversion...

spiney360 01-30-2006 10:20 AM

well yeah i know i will need the ecu.. the pressure sensor that is if the n/a one does not work..

One320B 01-30-2006 10:29 AM

If your doing the conversion, you can't use the NA pressure sensor...at least not safely. It doesn't have the proper range for boost. I ran my JDM motor around on the NA pressure sensor outside of boost...never got into it before swapping the sensors.

Now I've ditched that sensor all together in light of going to the 3 bar map sensor and a knock control device... (standalone though..not using stock ECU)

Dramon_Killer 01-30-2006 03:29 PM

You also have to keep in mind though if noone has done it before it probably can't be done. It can be very difficult to extend wires. Which is why sr20 guys also have to use the usdm harness.

spiney360 02-01-2006 02:30 PM

okay i have come accross a problem... the cas is one the jdm engine harness, wile the cas is on my usdm chassy harness... what should i do?

run it off the ecu? and will that even work?

or run it off my chassy harness? and will it work right?

One320B 02-01-2006 02:45 PM

You lost me... clean up that post some..

spiney360 02-01-2006 02:53 PM

sorry..

okay if i use the cas on the jdm engine harness, and not the factery one wich is on the chassy harness will it still work right or even work at all?

or is i switch it around with the cas one the chassy harness and leave the plugg on the jdm harness empty will that even work at all?

tancred 02-02-2006 10:22 PM

www.borgwarnerbrand.com

look in the catalog they sell new MAP sensors for T2s..

ECUs too...MAF...weird...
