i've seen a few examples of running the fmic piping down, back, then up instead of directly through the frame? any reason why haven't i seen any on rx7s?

 

The generall consensous is the more piping you have the less response you will have. So generally people try to have the shortest amount of piping. Plus all of the ic kits that I know of for the fc are designed through the frame and most FC owners are too lazy or dumb to design their own kit.

true, but if the turbo was pointed down, the bends and amount of piping would be minimal, though exiting the ic there might be more piping...atleast that is how i picture it in my mind



idk, it seems reasonable and might make mounting a custom ic easier. just wondering if anyone has attemped

 

I have seen a few FD's that had a setup similar to that, but no fc's. If you're going to do the work you'd be better off making a v or h mount setup and get a manifold made to place the turbo closer to the front of the motor, that way you can run ic piping extremely short.

eh, can't afford to have the car sit long enough to create a v or h mount setup. plus id have to do it properly.



i was just looking for a different way to do it, if its too much trouble ill pass for now

 

i ran my pipeing down between the frame and the rad on the right side and up the open hole where the bat was , just had to open the hole up some for the 3 inch pipe, but a 2.5 inch fits quite snugly between the rad and the frame on the right side, very short pipe length

yea im with fc3sboy i have a fluidyne rad and can fit 2.75" piping on the passenger side between the rail and the rad, and with my tiny batetry i can fit it where the oil cooler lines are between the rad and rail on the drivers side.



i use only two straight pipes and four couplers.

the old greddy kit points the turbo outlet down and then it goes under to the intercooler, there really isnt enough room on the other side to run under though, the oil cooler lines are in the way.



the simplest way that looked good was the guy scott (www.1300cc.com), cant think of his name on here, he tilted the radiator back and ran the pipes that way
