Hi,

I bought 2 years ago an 86 GX that has been sitting for 2 years (dead engine). I got a new one from rotary dynamic w/ 3mm seals. We got to start the engine by pushing the car on the road and it worked fine. I was told the engine wont idle for a while on its own, will not start as easily as it should for the first few trips. i then had to rebuild the fuel lines and for some reason, aren't sure where the two lines respectively connect to the engine (the feed line and the return line). There are 2 connectors (1 = Front , 2=Rear). So thats the 1st question.

2nd Question, is it normal that when the car is flooded, gas leaks out of the exhaust manifold?

3rd Question, would Turbo II ('88)coil spring fit on it knowing that its an 86?

4th Question, how hard is it to convert this car to TurboII and what parts would be needed other than the Turbo and intercooler?

P.S. I'm also curious, would an NA outrun a 92 Laser (Turbo + AWD) and a Civic SiR1 (japanese engine i believe)?

Thanks in advance!

Marc

If the engine is VERY flooded you can get gas leaking out of the exhaust manifold. The springs will go right in. A turbo conversion will also require the transmission, etc. to handle the extra power. You'll also have to worry about the ECU and sensors.

ah.. the fuel lines connect to the metal fuel lines on the metal fuel and vacuum spider. Its right under the dynamic chamber, and right behind the oil filler neck.. I think the lines criss-cross when they go through the spider though. trace them and see which one goes where. The return line should connect to the metal fuel line that connects to the secondary fuel rail. And the feed line connects to the primary injector fuel rail. there is another thread i did on this so use the search i think its called SS fuel and Oil lines

you would also need another engine where a N/A engine is a 6 port one and a turbo is only a 4 port engine. Plus you would need a new computer, wire harness and a lot more. you are better off selling yours and buying a TII of maybe getting a wrecked one as a donnor car.

Well, thanks for info about the fuel lines and turbo conversion.

I think the fuel lines arent plugged in properly and I'll fix that this weekend when I'll see my baby :-). Can this error be dangerous to the car?

88 TurboII coil springs in 86??? any differences??

Laser92 AWD TSI vs RX7 NA??

Civic SiR1 (JSPEC) vs RX7 NA???

Thanks again....great forum!

Hey...you won't need a different motor if you want to turbo your 6port...it can be done. Its just not that safe and a 6psi boost is all you'd need. NEways...

NA 2nd gen against a TSI laser....mmm laser. They might not be the fastest, but they are still turbo, and with a simple exhaust upgrade and intake...they can be competition for us turbo rotary guys. The DSM motors respond very well to modification and should not be taken lightly.

NA 2nd gen against an SI civic....thats a close call actually. I'd say if you got exhaust, intake, and got your fuel pressure right, you'd smoke him. The civic SIs arent the fastest, but they are still pretty quick. All in all..the rx7 would beat it...stock for stock its a close call.

As for the springs, there is a difference...but it won't mess anything up to put T2 springs on an NA...the T2s are just stiffer if I remember correctly. Also, if you can get a hold on some T2 sway bars, that'd be a good upgrade too...they are bigger then the NAs.
