Who Knows About The 5 And 6 Ports
#1
Ok, I finally got my exhaust on yesterday, all the cats are gutted and it sounds good without being too loud. I want to do the TB mod and I have heard about wiring open the 5th and 6th ports. Does this really give better throttle response. I am going to remove the air pump and install an electric fan, when I get the money, but if you could tell me where exactly they are located and what to do, I would greatly appreciate the help, pics would be nice if anyone has them.

that silver line is the A/C line and the white thingy at the bottom is the Oxygen sensor...that is only one of the actuators..that you neeed to wire open. If you look across to the front of the motor you will see another one, tie them open to anything you can that is sturdy. ONLY if they do not work..the TB mod will work great, i just did it last weekend

Ok, so I dont want to do that if they do work. What would cause them not to work? Not enough back pressure? The car runs great now, and I did see noticable improvement with the new exhuast.

It's easier to keep them open if you remove the actuators... or at least that little piece connected to it.
Without the 6 ports you WILL lose some low end (below 4000 RPM's) Not that I am one to talk, because I removed my 6 port sleves all together. But I did notice the difference on the bottom end.

you need to take the throttle body off the car....and drill the screws out...i drilled them out on the car..but i had a big magnet right next to the drill bit....and i need an excuse to buy a new motor

the TB mod signifigantly increased midrange throttle response and cleaned up the engine bay a little bit..just make sure you know how to re-route the coolant hose..i dotn have any pics of it..i'll take some when i get a chance
