Where do u guys recommend to get J-specs from? I preferably want a company that has some type of guarantee and maybe a comp. test. The oil seals are going on my car, so its time to get some real power. I'm also going to order a haltech, a walbro fuel pump, and buy a TII w/ a blow engine, that way i can yank the other **** i need

if you are going to go for a good turbo and computer, why not do it right and buy a T2 and port the motor? I know it is more expensive but you will have a good motor with more pwer when done.

Um, if he puts the T2 motor in his car, he'll have a motor that is just as powerful, lol....

...Also, after my ordeal, I DON'T recommend a Jspec. I mean, I got mine from FC3S.org, and I am not at all bad mouthing Dave Gibson, or his associates there...they are great, but the vendor they get their motors from say that the motors are compression tested before shipping out of Japan, and they are tested again when they arrive to California, HOWEVER, if this was true...my motor would RUN!!! Also, since I took about 4 months to put the motor in the car, the vendor wouldn't honor his warranty, so I'm stuck w/ a $1K motor that doesn't run! So anyways...if I were you, buy a blown T2 motor for like $300 to $400 and just rebuild it, then transplant that...its way less aggrivating, and its what I wish I would have done in the first place....

Now to only find a blown TII motor for $300, or even a TII parts car for that matter.

I see blown '87-'88 T2 motors for under $500 all the time....sometimes its just the block though. Thats the only problem, you'll still need everything else. However, if you wanted to, for about $1200 you can convert to a carb setup, and not have to worry about swapping your ECU, harness, or anything like that...you won't even need to buy most of the other T2 stuff to go w/ the motor. I mean, think of it this way....$1200 to convert to carb and less headache, or over $1200 for the haltech...its your call....(personally I still prefer fuel injected)....

i have considered just buying the blown TII, but if i can't find one i'll have to go J-spec. And rx7s are rare up here in MN. And i plan on doing the transplany because my 7 is cherry and i spent too much to get it that way.

Getting a j-spec is like playing russian roulette, methinks. Mine was a good one, but you never know what you'll end up getting.
