[attachment=30301:attachment]upon inspection to figure out what is wrong with my car, i found two things. one is a wire with 1 female plug, and something that looks like it should have a line on it. here are pics. both are around the oil filter area, but the wire looks like it shuld reach to somewhere on the tranny or back of the engine.

 

Not sure what i'm looking at on thefirst pic. That picture doesn't show a wire, only shows the clutch slave.



The 2nd pic. That is an important wire. It is a ground. It plugs into a terminal that is bolted to the firewall near the windsheild wiper motor. I'm surprised your car ran. My would run in 10 min intervals without that wire pluged into the terminal.

 

here is that first pic with the thing circled.

 

That's the bleeder screw for the clutch slave, that's what you put a clear hose on if/when you need to bleed the clutch.

 

i plugged that wire in, car is still running horribly. is there a way to reset the ECU or something. what else can i look for, didnt find any vacuum hoses unhooked that i could see.

I suspect you might need to to check the condition of your main grounding wire, which attaches to the bellhousing on the left side of the engine.



I can think of a couple dozen or so FC's I've worked on where this secondary ground was not in placed, and they all ran flawlessly despite electric fans, avrious fuel computers and aftermarket electrical accessories, and large stereos. That wire helps to ground the engine to the chassis, but it is far from required for the engine to run perfectly fine.
