well I want to get either the same size rim's all the way around w/ a larger tire in the back or 17x7's in the front like you mentioned before Erik and like 18x8-9's or is that just to wide?

Wow?!? 8.5" in the front? That's cutting it close. It's all in the proper offset and tire selection I guess. I've seen plenty of 17x8(234/45) and 17x9(265/40) on FC's.



17's are the way to go. It's too hard to find 16's that are that wide with the proper offset and 18's are too bling bling. I like to have plenty of sidewall for daily driving. 17x9.5 in the back will fit fine with 255/40. One thing you want to make sure of is that you keep the tire diameter as close to stock as possible. There are more tires to select from in the 17" range. The money you save by getting 17's instead of 18's and the expensive 18" tires you can turn around and spend it on some good quality tires. It bugs me when people spend tons of money of other stuff but cheap out with tires. Tires are the most important part of the car. Everything you do with the car should be focused on making them do their job as well as they can.



The section width is not an absolute number. Check the specs for the particular tire you want. Two tires both at 225/50R16 can be up to 3/4 of an inch different. I know. That's how my Yokohama AVS Int. and Advan A-032R's were. The A-032R's were very narrow compared to the "same" sized AVS Int. As a matter of fact, treadware ratings are not consistant between manufacturers. They only seem to be consistant between model lines from the same manufacturer. So a Pirelli with a rating of 300 will be different from a Falken that's rated at 300 for treadwear. The only treadware rating that is standardized is the "A" or "AA" or whatever rating system. It's not a very accurate way to measure treadwear between tires but it is a standard.

i have 215/35/18 in the front

and 265/40/18 in the back (with spacers to top it off)

no rolled fenders



and yes i have it dropped to top it off

with intrax springs



the only thing about em are that i know that they weigh a ton!!!!
