I just bought my 7 not to long ago, and I wanted to know what are my limits for rims...........width, height...etc...heres a pic https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

215/45 on a 17x7 inch rim all around is a nice combo...i bought aftermarket wheels a few years ago and liked the handling/price this size offered. this was on a 40mm offset on the rim.

I "believe" the widest you can go up front with a stock 40mm offset is 225 tires. You can go much wider in the back...but its up to you if you want an even number on all 4 wheels so you can rotate them...

Honestly if I had to go back I would probably choose 16x7's over the 17's. The look of the 17's are awesome...but the larger rotational interia weight slowed the car down a tad.

Nice ride...good luck https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

thanks, i should have some more pics up soon. I want to put wider tires in the rear along with some slimmer ones in the front. like 17x7's in the front and 17x7.5-8's in the back............ or wider https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

w/o rolling or wider fenders you can stuff 265s in the rear. I plan on running that this summer on 17s

I put (5 days ago) 17X7 with 40 offset all around. Tires are 225/45 ZR17. I like the looks and handles well. I am not good enough to tell a slowing down of the car due to larger inertial weight like Erik is. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png In fact I think it gave my car at least 20 horsepower. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif Here is an image of one of the wheels and tires.

I run 245/35/17s on all four corners of my car w/Proxie T1S tires, Im not sure what the offset is, they are close but never rub. should it say the off set some where on the wheel? or do the have to be measured or something?

well I forgot to tell everyone that it has eibach lowering springs on it. the fronts with the 15's on it look as if they could almost rub...but thats not with lo-pros https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

just one more tidbit...as far as height of wheel/tire combo's...

the 15" stock 91 rim with the stock 205/60R15 tire is almost identical in diameter/height to a 17" rim with 215/45R17 tire...

so if you're concerned with rubbing, the aftermarket tire combo i mentioned above would be the same ride height as your stock wheels...thus not messing up your speedo.

i'll have to look for it, but the Bay-Area RX-7 site used to have a wheel/tire size calculator on it...dunno if its still there...it helped me out a lot...

awesome, I really needed that info.............. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683621.gif (my amp finally came from etronics.com and i got it installed. It really thumps, 2 12" kicker comp vr's in a custom built box w/ a 1000watt legacy amp) I'll have to get some pics
