wheel fitment
#1
i am in the process of ordering rims for my 2nd gen vert. the rims i am ordering have a 38mm offset and they are 18x8.5, can i go with this fitment all around? do i need spacers? i have tires allready and they are 225 40 18 these tires came off of rims that were 18x8.5 so i know how they are going to look. can i go with this set up because the place is saying i should go with the 7.5" and the 8.5 will not work
need your help please!!!!

With 225s 7.5 will fit better than 8.5.
I have 8s on my car with a +34 offset and they JUST barely fit even with my heavy negative camber!
A 7.5 at +38 will be close (I would want to try first).
An 8.5 at + 38 is unlikely to fit. You will need spacers.

As above, they won't clear without thick spacers. The 7" 40 offset Turbo wheels will barely fit with 225 tires.
These 8.5" 38 offset would make the rim almost 11/16" closer to the strut, and cause major problems. The 7.5" would definitely be better, but with the 38 offset it would still move the wheel 3/16" closer to the strut. A spacer will probably be needed, but at least it would be a thin one.

I bought some 01' svt wheels, perfect offset, clears the brakes and never rubs anything, 245/45's all the way around. The only thing I had to do was stretch the front fender a bit so they wouldnt hit on hard bumps.

If my front were any wider they would rub. Their is about a quarter of an inch before it gets into the strut, and I am dead even with the outside edge of the fenders, 8.5 might be a problem on the front.
Plus a 225 on a 8.5 inch rim is going to look dinky, I have 245's on the back and it needs 255's to look right.
