I spent a few minutes on my back under my car last night, and I was just wondering what the thin metal tube running under the turbo is for? I'm trying to get my precat off the turbo, and I can only see one of the nuts, which came off rather easily. I think I'm going to have to get at the other two from the top, but I'll have to remove the ABS pump to get a wrench on them.

I also drained the gear oil out of the tranny. Not much metal on the magnetic plugs, except for a couple pieces about 2mm across.. Looked like a chip off a gear. The rest of it was just gray sludge, but not very much of it. I was just going to replace the oil with 90 weight. Is the synthetic worth the extra cost?

Thanks for the info!

Stock turbo? I'm thinking there was an oil line there but as I DON'T own one......

It's the smoke pipe, keeps all the smoke inside the engine.

Think about it, if the smoke runs out of the engine it stops running right?

Smoke make rotary engines run.

Actually how big is this line in width? Its an 87-88 right? If so, I'm guessing its probably for the twin scroll.

It's a stock turbo. The line is pretty thin, maybe 1/4" diameter. It's bolted to the shield around the turbo.

So what is it? The oil line for the turbo bearing?

its a vaccum line, it goes to a big round thing on the bottom front of the turbo?

Yep, the twin scroll was designed to help low end power by blocking off one exhaust inlet in the turbo then opening for the higher RPMS (I believe at least).

I yanked mine and the engine seemed to be much happier
