first turn off caps lock. 87 GXL stock has 146hp and 140tq. the biggest power increase will be a full http://www.racingbeat.com exhaust system(headers,presilencer,catback) and weight reduction 
if you do that and can drive VERY well you can run high 14's all motor there are quite a few cars running even 13's on the east coast with no turbo. if i find a bunch of money or pay off my FD i would like to do that to my GTU :sigh:
