What are the symptoms of clogged cats besides low power? Does it smell any different? I know they glow red after hard driving, but that's kinds hard to see with the heat shield in place.

My old Camaro had it's cat die fast. One day everything was fine, next day it was loud as hell and had no power. Bogged down when trying to accelerate, but loud as hell out the same time. All the gaskets in front of the cat were leaking because of the backpressure.

Like mike said...They will leak from the header or the main cat gasket areas due to backpressure build up.My car was nice and loud with them clogged.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Just wanted the noise out the back of the car so I pulled them.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png The power gain is just a bonus.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Your 6ports will open very easily. You can rev the engine and see them open at only 2000rpms . That's how bad my na engine got to be.

hey dumarjo, we need to setup a meet when all the snow melts down.....i`ll give you some tips and we can check out your cats....your best bet is to get a bonez race pipe and replace all your cats, clogged or not. its not that loud with stock mufflers and the power gain is just great.

are you driving it during the winter?
