Whats FC are you driving, and what are your mods??

SuperchargedRex 08-26-2001 08:07 AM

Started with an '88 SE. Obviously, the biggest mod is the supercharger, but I've also got Tokico struts, Pacesetter header, Dynomax cat and cat back, Rotary Performance fuel pump, 550cc/min secondary injectors, K&N cone filter, Autometer boost and air/fuel gauges, Corbeau Sport Seats with Check seat heaters, C's short shifter with Momo knob, 2+2 rear seats out of an '86.

And I kept the phone dial rims as part of the sleeper look. ;)

Rotaryman88 08-26-2001 01:02 PM

Did you have to convert to a carb for the SC? I would like to do a supercharger, but I want to keep my EFI...

SuperchargedRex 08-26-2001 05:52 PM

I got to keep my stock fi with the Nelson/Paxton kit. Unfortunately for you, Nelson has stopped making the kit. On the other hand, I don't know if you've seen my posts on the other boards, but I'm looking into fabricating the 4 custom pieces that are needed. (throttle body horn, elbow between sc and tb horn, sc mounting bracket, and the thermostat housing) So far I've found two vendors that will be able to make everything but the thermostat housing; and that might be just modifying the factory one. Right now I'm waiting on cost estimates for production runs; I'll keep you informed if you want.

Rotaryman88 08-26-2001 07:44 PM

Please do, that'd be great man!

ILUVMY88CABRIO 08-26-2001 08:44 PM

I have a 88 convertible with dual exhaust, K&N cone filter, No emissions crap on my car (untill my emissions test) Alpine, Infinity, and Rockford Fosgate for tunes. I am debating doing a turbo swap, supercharger, or V8 conversion. I would lile to keep it rotary powered, but it is hard to resist the high hp and torque of a V8.

blurrrr 09-06-2001 10:36 PM

whats up?

Im the new owner of a ragged out '87 RX7 non turbo hardtop. Its got beat up pale blue paint, its missing the passenger seat and it does not run. Its sitting on the side of the road right now (having it towed tomorow). It used to belong to a good friend of mine, but he passed away recently. His parents live out of town so rather than go through the hassle of having it towed to Llano, they gave it to me.

Its a pretty cool car... we called it the blur. The late Drew Stephens was a big racing fan, but never had any money to fix up his 'G' ride as we would call it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png This car is so ghetto, its not even funny. The brakes are gone, exhaust manifold has a huge crack in it and the shifter is about to fall off...

Now that I have his car though, I want to fix it up (he always wanted to make a good AutoX car out of it). I want to eventually do a turbo engine motorswap, maybe a user programmable ECU and some injectors, coilovers, 17" wheels and some good rubber (hey, I can dream right?)

Well, eyelids gettin heavy...peace out.

shawn

Welcome! I love project cars, and if you ever need some help, this forum is a great start. Best of luck, and peace out!

RotaryBoy88 09-28-2001 10:43 PM

I have an 88' SE with bonez' cone intake with freash air headlight cover, 8.5 Jacobs wires, Bonez street/Comp clutch and presure plate, Mazdaspeed short shift (Very Usefull) ripped out air con. Oh and if someone can reply how to take the air pump off I would very much appreciate it:smile:

phinsup 09-28-2001 10:56 PM

Well taking the air pump off is pretty easy, you can get some belt slippage, but that can be fixed with an aftermarket pully. I would recommend removing the cats if you are going to get rid of the airpump as it does aid quite a bit in keeping things moving through the cats.

Anyhow, just yank the hose that runs from the air pump to the cat, then the hose that goes to the airbox... make sure you plug the hole with something. Then you un-bolt the airpump and you're good to go. It's a only a few bolts.

Let us know if you get stuck or that doesn't make any sense. I went to the HKS filter on my 89 when I got rid of the air pump so it was easy to plug the hose from the filter (the filter came with a plug). Should be easy to figure out.

Welcome to the board!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

RotaryBoy88 09-28-2001 11:04 PM

Thanx Phinsup I forgot to say this I have a 3" downPipe (precats gone) and i got a crowbar and smashed out all that crap it the Main Cat  , so it looks like it's there for inspetion, but i'm gonna put a straight pipe thought it and weild it so you know. thanx agian i'll try it and see what happens :dontgetit:

phinsup 09-28-2001 11:35 PM

You'll be fine, even the high flow cats usually do ok without the airpump!

Good luck, let us know if you need some help.

1Revvin7 10-20-2001 11:24 PM

I got a 88' Gtu, in mint, white w/ black bra and 89-92 taillights. I got the fresh air headlight, Bonez cone intake, heat shield, ripped out A/C and air pump, Rx7.com power pulleys, Rx7.com midpipe, Huge R1 racing dual Cylidrical mufflers, JAcobs rotary 8.5 wires, NGk plugs, taken off 150 lbs, almost mechanically sound, TII tranny https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png waiting to do ATF trick and get electric fan conversion, and aluminum flywheel, and god knows where from there https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

YucA 10-21-2001 09:42 PM

88 GXL recently painted white with a Blue-pearl clear coat. Racing beat headers to custom single exiting 2.5'' piping to an Apex N1 muffler, Bonez Intake, No airpump, Electric Fan...think thats about it...

All i gotta say about the exhaust...its LOUDER that a Mofo. i love it! Surprised i havent gotten a ticket though(knock on wood)...

toka 10-23-2001 07:59 AM

I have a 90 GXL, pretty much stock at this point. I don't know what the kid I bought it from put on it cos the car has been at the service garage since I got it (see my previous flooding problem posts). By the way, the service tech now says there is TOO much fuel volume and they don't know why. Does anyone out there know. I told the service tech it's gotta be a sensor/wiring problem...???

3Rotor 10-27-2001 08:57 PM

I own two 10th AEs. One is bone stock and the other is a three rotor conversion done by Mariah Motosports. I've added a few things to it. Mainly frame stiffeners, rollbar, and the Kenwood KVT-910DVD, KNA 2100 Navigation, and C907 10 Disc CD changer. I also just put an on-board laptop to control the WinTECII. The output is to the screen on the in-dash LCD screen. Check out my site,it is pretty up to date. I only have Mariah's stock pictures as a buddy of mine is working on relocating the gauges from the glove box to the pillar and making a custom center surrond for the remaining gauges and new Kenwood controller.

1Revvin7 10-28-2001 07:24 AM

Thats pretty cool 3 rotor, make a link to ur page. Where the **** u get all the money??? I saw that car sellin on MAriah for like 40,000.

Dirk Diggler 10-30-2001 07:46 AM

I do not have much...but here it is...see sig

3Rotor 11-04-2001 09:15 PM

My page is at:

www.users.qwest.net/~thebergers

Mariah came down a ton. They are getting ready to move into a new facility and are getting rid of their project cars. They are in the negotiating mood and cash talks! Too good of a deal to pass up. As to where I get all my money - I had actually been saving for an RX-8, but I got tired of waiting. I'm having fun with the 3 Rotor - so much that I don't even care about the RX-8 right now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

I stripped the corner of one of the bolts on the back of the dynamic chamber. The last one too! I have to get some more tools to get it out, cuz its in such a cramped spot, its either that or taking the whole engine out to get, well i got all winter https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

1Revvin7 11-13-2001 10:34 PM

i got it from www.uprd.com but they are no longer in business. try going direct through www.pacesetterexhaust.com i think. you can purchase the ceramic coated ones from them but i would go with racing beat they are much better. i went with pacesetter cause i'm a cheapass when it comes to the GTU :p although i have had zero problems with my headers after 2 years, winters etc etc.

Which bolt was it? If it's on the intake manifold you could probably just take the entire manifold. Here's one that somebody took of my engine bay:

Thanks for the compliment.https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png It hasn't really given me any major problems. The worst things that have happened were a leaking water hose, and a leaking oil line to the turbo. Those were fixed pretty easily. When I first had the car running I was using the stock ECU. waynespeed from the rx7forum helped me out alot with the Wolf 3D. He helped me to get it running really well. It's a little on the rich side, but we'll fix that later on when we dyno the car.

I've been using it just about every day for about 1 1/2 years. The first 9 months was with the 89-91 stock turbo. After that the car sat for 6 months while I worked on it and had major delays.:( I've been running with the T-78 for 2 months. My motor was done by Rampage. It seems like a good motor, but they closed down.
