The "new" NSX? Do you mean a "coming soon" version? I thought all of the ones out now were aluminum.[/quote]

You can paint CF, all it is a epoxy resin that holds it together, almost no different then regular polyester resin for fiberglass. In my opinion CF is a waste of money for a hood. When I make my hoods, IM going to lay some up in epoxy instead of polyester and they will be so much stronger. The thing you have to be carefull of with CF hoods is the type of epoxy they used ( this on only applies to those that want to keep the CF look) I only know of one brand of epoxy that has a ultra-violet shield to protect if from the sun, and even then its one TYPE of hardner available from that company for the epoxy, alot of these guys popping these things out probably dont know the difference #1, and #2 probably wont spend the extra money for the better epoxy with the UV shield. The other problem with paiting a CF hood is alot of these bodyshops who have no expierence with epoxy resins or anything that came from a mold for that matter, is to make sure all the mold release is off the part before they try to prime and paint them, and with epoxies, there is a aline that must be washed off or a proper primer bond wont be there, and if the primer doesnt bond, then the paint will be coming off in sheets along with the primer.

In 03 they made some major changes. From what I remember reading, the hood, trunk lid, wing, and a few other parts were changed from aluminum to CF.

Your guess is as good as mine. But I would love to have one.

CF is lighter and stronger then fiber glass. As long as it is done right of course. It is very paintable.

Its no lighter, it is stronger though, and for a hood, its a gimic. Unless you plan on dancing on the hood.
