Im just wondering whether i should get jack stands or ramps or what else there is i can use. Most the ramps ive seen apear to have to steep of an angle to get my car up on.

 

floor jack + jack stands is what I use, a friend of mine just uses large blocks of treated lumber, he also has home made ramps from long pieces of lumber stacked on top of one another then countersunk bolts to hold it all together. They were very long so the slope was not great, minimizing risk of going off the end... I like the wood concept, cheap jack stands from wal mart or meijer will probably fail before a big assed block of wood... and the wood generally won't damage anything like the end of a jack stand (I usually use a small layer of wood between the stands and the car to protect the car anyways....)

 

use a floor jack, your car may be too low to slide the jack up under but if it is just pull the front wheels onto some of the little red bricks then see what you can do from there. i have a floor jack i use and it has worked great so far. (knock on wood) :bigthumg:

ok i guess ill get a floor jack and some jack stands then.

 

just remember not to get under the car with only a cheap floor jack supporting it.. .the valves have been known to pop open, so always use jack stands if you will be under the car.



also, you will want to have some scrap chunks of wood, 2x4 pieces and such work great, use them between the jack and the car and it will distribute the load over a larger surface area on the car, so you don't dent/bend stuff... they don't need to be very long, just 6" is sufficient, a few pieces of varying lengths come in very handy for a multitude of things.

I just used some wheel ramps for the first time to change my coolant. They're made from heavy plastic type stuff, and I got them from Discount Auto Parts (now called "Advance Auto Parts"). Someone said they would bottom out, but I pushed the car up by hand, with it in neutral and a little rocking.

 

I gotta check the exhuast system for a leak, check/change trannsmision fluid and some other stuff.
