I am removing the engine from my 88 GXL. I wanted to pull as much out with it as possible. It looks like the wiring harness wraps around under the intake manifold. Do I have to take the manifold off in order to get the wiring out?

What else needs to come out before the engine?

When I put it back in what can I leave off? I am planning on leaving the A/C out, it does not work anyway.

you can do it 2 ways. they both take about the same amount of time so its not a big deal either way.

#1. pull the upper intake, disconnect the harness from the sensors. unbolt the exaust from the manifold, pull engine

#2. pull the carpet up from the passeger side, disconnect harness from ecu. disconnect harness from next to blower motor. throw harness on top of engine. pull engine

Just like stated above, but remember when you put the engine back in you might as well leave the upper intake manifold off because you have to get the the primary injectors in the intermediatte housing. Taking the upper intake manifold off is not such a big deal, but after you do it a few times it gets kind of old. At least you remember where everything goes.
