water pump temp sensor relocation good ida or bad ida?

Hi



ok so i have nicely moded 87 t2 with a fresh rebiuld 3mm apex seals street port etc. anywho i have drilled and taped alot if the back of the water pump housing SO..... i need to some how install the water temp gauge some where else what do u guys think of me putint it on the water pump fillter neck? do u think this will effect the sensor at all? let me know what you guts think thanks. also heres a pic of my motor

if you put it there, drill a small hole in the tstat too, otherwise the ecu's gonna think the engines cold when its not.



the thermostat does a good job of sealing, so the engine can be warm on the stock guage, and a sensor there will read 0, until the t stat opens.
