Water Pump Housing Spacers

I've looked around the internet and found two answers to this question. I'm curious to see what the word is on this forum. Does the water pump housing on an S5 (specifically N/A) use spacers to properly align the pump housing to the front plate. I personally don't remember ever removing them, so I was assuming they don't. Still would be nice to have some other opinions though. Thanks!

From my experience, I have only seem them on S4 not S5.

yeah s5 doesnt use em. what they do, is space the thing out for the gasket, so if you've got it right the water pump housing sits flush. you dont have to use those exact spacers either, you could use an extra gasket....
