You said bung....

But, wouldn't it be bad to weld on the housings since they're cast iron?

No.. I wouldn't imagine so..

It's not like your burning alot of wire for that little hole..

If you were welding a plate on it I would be afraid of it warping..

Sorry I meant I was going to remove the nipple on the waterpump housing and weld that shut.

Or you could counterbore it for a small freeze plug.

The motor will be out of the car..

Maybe I should tap it, plug it, then run water through the motor with a hose or something for a while? Think that would catch all the shavings?

(with the water pump housing assembly off...)

What do you think?

Oh yeah and as for polishing..

Should I use a really small grit sandpaper for the finishing touches? Buffing wheel or something? I've never done this before.. I've got it shiny as ****, but not quite a 'glassy' finish.

BigTurbo74 02-27-2004 03:57 PM

use high grit sand paper untill there are absolutely no pits in the metal, then polish that bitch up

ColinRX7 02-27-2004 04:28 PM

There was some scuffing from the rougher stuff I was using.. It almost polished out but not quite..

Not enough for my liking anyways. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I guess I'll try higher grit then polish!
