S4:



Ima polish a spare S4 housing.. What did you guys do to ditch the lines that run up to the TB? I managed to hammer out the furrow/nipple from the housing, I thought it was cast in or tapped or something, but it's just like a furrow..



So I have a blank hole.. Tap it and use a plug? What did you guys do?

The S4 elbow. Not going to be running a pressure cap up there. What should I do for maximum prettiness? Is there a stock S4 elbow with no pressure cap up there or should I make a blockoff plate (which coincidentally does not look pretty)..



What are you guys doing for this stuff?

I tapped the holes with a NPT tap, and put in plugs.



Second, I would keep the pressure cap on the elbow, as its the highest part of the cooling system, and its more central than the radiator. Put a 0 pressure cap on the radiator.

And I started polishing it. Hoo boy.



On the topic of getting rid of those coolant lines to the TB (for good), what about the one on the rear iron? And The same for the heater core (since I won't be using one)? How should I ditch those pipe fittings?

I grab the nipples with locking pliers, twist, and pull.



then tap the holes just like you did with the TB, and install plugs.

For the coolant line on the rear iron, I remove it, and tap that also, but I do that when the engine is apart. In your case, Id just put a cap over it and clamp it on.



For the heater core, I would do the same. Just a cap and a clamp.

In the past I capped the " bungs" that did its job, but wasn't as clean as peng's install. I am going to remove the " bung" and weld it shut this time. I'm not sure on my rear iron through, maybe just remove and tap? I don't want to worry about anything warping from welding..

I would plug it but when I am tapping it the debris from the tapping tool will fall into the motor.. Not cool..



That's why I was curious as to what you guys were doing.. So.. No other solution than to just cap it on a motor that's already assembled?

Hold a vacuum cleaner hose up to it as you drill & tap.

The chips get sucked away before they can fall in.

You said bung....



But, wouldn't it be bad to weld on the housings since they're cast iron?
