Water Gets In Th Vert..
#1
ok.. After I got my car it rained quite a bit.. It sucked cuz my window regulator was messed up on the drivers door and would not seal tight.. I fixed that for like $5.. Anyway.. After the rain stopped I decide to check the sound system(stock one) and have a lookk at the puny little pioneer subs.. The carpet behind the seats was not wet.. but there was water underneath it that had soaked the insulation material..
So first I thought maybe it was getting in through the convertibles top due to a bad weather stripping.. but the headliner has no stains to show that it has had water run down it. sooo.. I start looking around.. After removing the rear deck cover I noticed that there are those 2 drain pipes from the lil pockets on the sides of the convertible top.... Well I didn't really pay much attention since I was still dumbfounded as to how the water was getting in..
When I put all the stuff back on cuz it was getting late.. I was leaving and I decided to look at the pocket.. Then it hit me(ouch!), I saw that my drain pipes were clogged inside the pocket(blue arrow) so when it rainf the water fills up the pocket, and over flows and gets in to the car through the rip in my top(red arrow)... That would explain how the interior has no water stains to show where the water was coming from.. So anyway..

thats not where the water is coming in from. My drains have never been clogged and I still get water coming in.
It comes in thru the drivers door, some right in the door itself ( another
reason why new window stripping is a good idea ) and some
comes in the door jamb, when the door is closed peek in the door jamb
where the rubber is that has the snap on it, you should see a space, thats
where water comes in, then it travels down behind the molding or thru the jamb itself and collects behind the seat.
It also drips where the targa and the soft top meet, just falls right onto the
floor.
Im working on solving both, just havent bothered, driving 900 miles a year
on sunny days makes you forget the thing leaks, lol.
