Its pretty easy to do if you have a die grinder. Just go to a local machine supply shop and pick up a carbide bit, a good one will run you 25-30 bucks. Outline the section you want to cut away and go at it. You can extend it to just about the edge of the flapper door, just make sure it still seals well. The die grinder with a good tip on it will cut through the metal very easily. Wear a long sleeve shirt as those little metal splinters are very sharp and will get all over you.
