Ok, well i have my new motor in the car. My father(a mechanic finished it all whil i was at work) and they got to the point where it needed to be started.

But they can not get it to start.

He said it sounded like it was going to fire but didnt quite make it. He also said that it was definetly flooded as there was gas coming out the exhaust :P

Anyone have any idea.

We left it with the plug out for tonight, and were going to try the ATF trick with it tomarrow. The timing was fooled with to see if it woudl start, but no luck.

Anyone got any ideas about this? Coudl an incorrect TPS cause this? Or was it probably due to the lack of oil in the combustion chamber to seal it and then there was just to much gas in there??

Anyone help me??

I have 13hours to get the car running.

Try push starting it, after you verify it has spark.

remove the egi fuze floor the gas pedal crank it over ar 15 second intervals then use a little atf fluid in one of the vacum ports on the intake manifold and crank it over with the egi fuze put back in to build up the compression. when it fires up let it warm up fully then you are set to drive.

Does anyone havce any other ideas. I need the car to actualy start under its own power.

We managed to get it to start but is smoked white for a while. And will not idle, and dies when you try to let it idle. Then wont start. If we inject air via a hose to the UIM then it will start much easier.

PLEASE HELP ME I NEED MY DAM CAR!!!

Ok, so from the beginning of the day to the end.

We got some ATF in a bottle and a hose to make adding it easier. Had both top plugs removed and squirted a bit in each hole.

Turned the motor over with no plugs in there to lube it a bit, then put plugs in there and tried to start. It started but died immediately.

Tried the same thing again but this time did not turn it over with the plugs out so there was more ATF left in there. Same result.

We then went on to the timing. Found out that the distributor(I think that what its called on a rotary?) was out one tooth so it was not firing when it was needed. So we compared it to the motor that we took out which ran and it was indeed off. We adjusted it by eye and tried the ATF thing again. IT STARTED!!!!!!!!!

Would not idle, so i had to sit in there and keep it running. Meanwhile the hole shop and adjacent alleyway was filling with white smoke. So we killed the motor and went to check that everything was ok.

Tried to restart it, no luck. Was like the first time we tried to start it.

Then we tried to replace and calibrate the TPS with a volt meter. And did it to factory spec 1@closed throttle and 5+1@ full. Re-checked all hoses, connecters, wires, etc. Tried to start it again. No luck.

So my dad tried to inject some air into the UIM when starting and it worked. But no idling, and it ran rough.

We were looking through a manual and noticed that maybe the leading and trailing leads are mixed up (leading coil hooked up to trailing plugs and vice versa). Would this cause the car to not start properly? Or at all. I cant get back into the shop until tomorrow morning and I will go there and see if this is the case.

Also noticed a few things, the wastegate actuator rod that connects to the pivot point which requires a C clip to be held in place, well the C clip is gone. So the rod was not even connected. Good thing I didn’t go heavy on the throttle or anything. Would have over boosted it. Should I use the factory C clip or just some heavy duty wire? And both gaskets where the DP meets the turbo and exhaust pipe area are leaking exhaust. Is that just a matter of tightening them up? As there is now gaskets in both places.

yea i am pretty sure that having the coils hooked up wrong would be a problem. not a pro here or anything but just fix it and see what happens.
