So yesterday I pulled the injectors out, to send out and have fixed. Everything looks good I broke nothing which came as a suprise all the vacume lines were in good shape and no lost bolts!! Currently I am deciding what I want to remove and what should stay, The car is daily driver and will see some auto-x use. I want to keep VDI and not sure if I want to use pineapple sleevs or run 5&6th ports? I will have full exhaust soon! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

You never specified your intentions.

One320B 08-20-2007 07:24 PM

This thread isnt even mine, lol - i dont need to specify my intentions, it just seems that he wants to have a weekend autox car but still be driveable and reliable - so looks are not as important as being a safe competitve car that is reliable enough to drive every day.

removing the A/C, condenser, and jazz will free up some space. Removing the rats nest will get rid of your VDI. As for the Pineapple Sleeves, sounds like an idea. I would just hate to have a chunk of aluminum getting sucked in to my engine. I'm curious what exhaust setup you're gonna use. That's my dilemma right now, at least the mufflers..

your user names are damn similar!

One320B 08-21-2007 07:23 PM

Yea - we're all One320!

VDI should be kept, it's worth it if you want to get the most out the S5 engine in stock form.

If the insert flies out of the sleeve, he'll just need a rebuild, oh darn - lol...

one320fb 08-22-2007 05:31 PM

Well I orderd the sleevs and today the injectors came I post the results soon. Its going to be costly but I will end up doing a complete RB exhaust. I was going to make my own but I know the out come will just be way to loud.

Remove the emissions if you can (no sniffer test).

Contrary to popular belief, I have had NO driveability issues with all of it GONE.

You will not necessarily gain any HP, but it cleans up the engine bay, and makes it insanely easy to do any maintenance.

The driveability issues depend greatly on your location/altitude/other mods, etc when you've removed the emissions. True, most times I've removed it - the car drives the same. Usually it idled slightly higher, but it also got worse gas mileage. In all honesty, for no gain and if you're not building a all out high HP car - it's pointless to remove the stuff. To me, having it there or not doesn't change maintenance at all - maybe a little longer, but that's it.

Also, should the time ever come to sell your car, a general enthusiast does not want to buy something that 1. Looks Raped; 2. might not pass inspection where they live.

Not bashing the idea, just some food for thought...

djmtsu 08-25-2007 10:25 AM

My 7 is a paradox. It gets better gas mileage than my friends GTUs with all emissions in place. He's lighter, and NA with all pollution controls, and mine is a GXL with a TII swap. Odd.

Well after 3 long weeks, I am getting the car back together time issues and wating on parts held me up a lot. Everything is going great as soon as one320b gets back here with my TB I can button her up and turn the Key. For a run down of what I have done, pretty much a big tune up.

*sent the injectors out to be cleaned

*port matched manifolds

*mild TB mod

*all new intake gaskets

*cleaned and installed 5th & 6th port sleevs

*silicon vaccum lines

*new spark plugs

I will post some pictures and what I spent, after I get her started up. Next week when I have some more cash I am going to replace fuel filter, O2 sensor and spark plug wires, check timing and do a compression test.

One320B 09-09-2007 04:57 PM

I've got vids of the first start-up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif and pics if you need them....

NO DELLORTO! Oh - you forgot to mention the "INSERTS" for the sleeves, you cleaned and installed new sleeves w/ PR inserts...

one320fb 09-09-2007 08:06 PM

Yea I will have to post them later. I would like to see the video you got!

One320B 09-09-2007 09:19 PM

The vid is just us talking while cranking - I didnt take a vid when it fired up.

Here are some of the pics I have (the rest are just more of the same), but you probably have more and better ones, and now that it's done, that engine bay can get a good bath!

one320fb 09-15-2007 08:55 AM

Well after all that crap I have bad compression! There might be a complete S5 intake setup for sale with cleaned injectors.. I am going to just put my S5 turbo motor back in it after a fresh rebuild
