Well, in about 2/3 months I'll be upgrading the Project GT-X to a track only car and I want to utilize a bigger turbo (T-60+)

for the track. I understand the fuel mods and such. I'm just curious as to what you all think would be the best setup. I'm thinking a T-78 setup...and I want to keep it all GReddy/TRUST if I can. The larger turbo 800+cc fuel injectors, BOV, FMIC, wastegate....I want 9s!!!! What do you all suggest...oh, and if anybody knows a good place to get the parts at a good deal, I'd appreciate it!

A T-78 kit won't fit on a TII motor, but you can always use the turbo. A good custom setup would do a great job, if you have the time to spare. The piping in the Greddy IC kit isn't that great.

I was gonna do a custom setup if I did the T78 or bigger. Have you really heard the GReddy FMIC isnt good?? I don't want HKS, I'd rather have GReddy or Spearco....

The Greddy core is good, but the piping has ALOT of bends. I had to re-do all of the piping to fit the T-78. You'll be better off buying a Spearco core and making your own pipes.

Do you have any underhood pics of the setup??? What all did you have to do to get the T-78 to fit??? What manifolds did you use, etc?

I used an HKS TII manifold. I had to make oil lines and a downpipe. The turbo is oil cooled. So you'll have to block off all of the water inlets and outlets for the stock turbo water lines. You'll have to point the compressor outlet up towards the hood, because it gets too close to the water pump inlet when it's pointed downward. I had to make my own heater hose because the exhaust housing of the turbo was touching the stock metal line. I also put some heat wrap around the front passenger side brake line because it's very close to the turbo.

What kind of track sport are you looking at?

Since he wants I big turbo my guess would be drag racing.

The GT-X will be a drag car. I find it impossible to build a car that can win in both drag racing and auto-xing....I want to build a NIRA spec rx7 out of the GT-X and then I'm gonna build up a NA 7 for club racing in SCCA.

If you want to autocross then you'd probably be better off with a TO4 or 60-1.
