are there any websites out there on how to convert the turbo 2 to a j-spec engine?

if anyone wants to explain what all is required please do, i found a 88 turbo 2 with an excellent body and new rebuilt tranny, just has a blown engine, the guy onlt wants 900 bukcs for it, the interior is so so, anyways i figure the j-spec engine, ecu, and what else? im not even to familiar with the turbo 2's becasue no one i know owns one or myself either, thankss for the help :bigok:

ive also read the j-spec engines dont last long, hehe is it the member voscko that blows them up? lol that would suck, didnt you put 2 of them in and the apex seals **** on you?

jspec's suck unless you ebuild them prior to using them

There isn't that much difference in the j-spec and us-spec tII engines. Basically they are the same. I think all you need is the engine, ecu, and wiring harness. It should be a direct bolt in job. No cutting or anything. Yes Vosko was the one who kept killing j-sepec motors. It wasn't the apex seals though. It was the coolant seals. Anyway the reason they kept going was because they are all used engines with about 40k miles on them. That's why they are cheap to buy. Basically you don't know how it was treated before you get it. This is the reason why they go within a few months. It's like buying an unproven part. You never know what you're getting.

Is there a place online that sells jspec engines? I'm trying to get one cheap to rebuild and port, so my car isn't out of commission for a while while I'm porting my own engine...

would the rebuilt kits for the turbo 2 be the same for a j-spec engine?

sleeperRX7 01-21-2003 11:41 PM

theres a lot of places online that sells them, i know for sure www.corksport.com has them as i just visited the website for the first time about 5 minutes ago, lol thats only only place i can recall at the moment, i must sleep............

also my RX7 is a series 4, would it matter is the j-spec engine is a series 4 or 5? and what about the sensor on the intake becasue those were both different of series 4 and 5?

Seppuku 01-22-2003 12:52 AM

It does matter with the series unless you want to do alot of work, basiclly if you just want to pretty much drop the new motor in youll want the same series. And for the rebuild kit its all the same thing.
