Question

Well talked to the mechanic today and he got my driver side fixed (woohoo) but he can't fix my passenger side...he says he got the panel off (how i'll never know) and everything is intact and he tried to oil it and it STILL won't open, he says it's frozen (say WHAT?!) and wants to use an air chisel to chisel out the latch (?!) now i just sat down and thought about it...wouldn't the door have to open to do that?! and if he meant the outside handle there is only 2 bolts holding them on and u can get to them from the inside,

correct? Is he just being lazy and trying to nail me for more $$?

thanx for the help!

Yes.. the door handles are very easy to take out. Open the door. Remove the door panel. Loosen one of the Bolts for the handle. Than, Lower the window ( or raise it. which ever way you started) than loosen the other bolt for the handle. Take your time and deal with it

The Door handles on the FC's are very prone to breaking over time due to cheap metal to save wieght.

Purchase some new ones. and spotweld them to reinforce them. :-)

he cant get out the latch, the handle is easy.

Its hard to get the latch out when the door is closed.

a u-wrench it sounds like a place that you go and pull the parts off yourself.

A new one from Mazda cant be compared to a u-wrench it considering you can usually get a whole door from a u-wrench it for $15-$25

Dont break your wiper switch or you will really get a shock how much a new one is from the dealer, lol.

Unless the drivers handle is broken in 2 I cant see why it doesnt work.

I think he's just being lazy....stupid mechanics.....If i get the parts i'll just do it myself,

my g-friend called again today to confirm the price, and the lady told her she didn't know if they even HAD an rx-7, that we'd have to go out and look, since it's been raining for about 14 hrs. straight, i passed on that, i didn't feel like hiking thru 15 acres of mud and crap looking for an rx-7 after work....maybe next weekend....and it was the little levery thing on the driver's side, still don't know what to do with the passenger side....
